About This Blog
Worship is essential to our walk with God. Whether we worship alone or together, in song or in deed, acts of worship bring us closer to our Creator and Redeemer.
- Provide resources for worship ministry.
I hope to collect recommended practices, books, song resources, and possibly more. My ambitions here are greater than I think I can manage, but dream big, right?
In my heritage of faith, the Churches of Christ, we have a non-hierarchical structure, so that no one church's actions are dictated by an external governing body. While that freedom allows many benefits, one shortcoming is a lack of central resources. I hope to gather as many of those resources here, to share from a centralized location. - Write short devotional thoughts.
I enjoy study and writing, so I hope to share some writings here. This serves me as a spiritual exercise—teaching a topic is a useful way for even the teacher to learn—and I hope it serves the reader as a study or devotional aid.
I may also, as time allows, share past sermons or lessons I've written. Often, these will be longer and more in-depth. - Dwell more on how we shape worship and how worship shapes us.
There is a power to ritual. A power to words. A power to music. A power to practiced belief. Worship services should be intentionally crafted, and we as worshipers must allow worship to craft us.
The title of this blog is "Forming Worship". I mean that in both the verbal and adjectival sense; we form worship, and worship is formative. As Christians (and especially as ministers), we need to consider the importance of both.
